APP REVIEW: L SPEED

APP REVIEW: L SPEED

We all have faced that moment when your phone starts stuttering or dies when we need it the most – like capturing a life moment or sending that one business mail or chatting with your best buddy.

This can be avoided to an extent – with the help of a simple yet efficient app – L Speed!

L Speed was born as a simple, powerful and lightweight script which when flashed from recovery to bring wonders to the device.

Due to the overwhelming support and feedback received from users, the mod creator, my friend – Danijel Markov aka Paget96 – or Dan, as we call him, created an app itself, to make it even more user friendly and effective

INTRODUCTION

What exactly is this app? Allow me to quote Dan:

“L Speed is a modification that combines tweaks inside an intuitive application, the main goal of the tweaks is to improve performance, reduce stutters and lags, and expands battery life.”

And guess what? It does EXACTLY what it claims – provides better battery life and reduces lag.

Enough with the talk, let’s see what L Speed has to offer.

FEATURES

  • Better performance
  • Better battery life
  • Less lags
  • Faster input/output and read/write speed
  • Cleaner script for cleaning system
  • CPU tuner
  • Battery calibration
  • Seeder
  • FStrim
  • And much more

About the much more part, I’d tell that you experience it yourself to appreciate this app and what it can do.

INSTALLATION

Installation is as easy as it can get, you just need to head over to Play Store and install the L Speed App.

As with all cool apps, this app too requires root access, since to bring such awesome modifications to your phone, modifications has to be done at the root level itself.

FUNCTIONALITY AND USER INTERFACE

Upon successful installation of the app, you are greeted with a root access permission from your Superuser app.

If you choose to deny root access, you are presented with a screen showing merits and demerits of root – and how to achieve root, which is pretty handy for a beginner.

Once you grant root access, you are directed to the dashboard, where information regarding Memory, CPU, Kernel and Battery is presented neatly. The app strictly follows the material design and is a sight to the eye.

From the sidebar, you can navigate to Main tweaks, this is where most of the magic is done. Here we are presented with various option for different tweaks, I suggest you use default settings if you are a new/novice user.

Then there is a tab called CPU tuner – its a simple page with just 2 options, one is Multi core power save and the other is CPU Optimizer and it does exactly what its name states!

The next tab is cleaner, here we can clean stuff such as cache, dalvik cache, junk files etc. We are also given an option to run this at boot – which some users might find handy!

The next tab is LNET Optimizer – Its all about networking and radio stuff, and trust me, it works great without hiccups.

The last tab is all about I/O (Input/Output). Here are the tweaks which allow you to get better R/W speeds and much more!

Then there is an about tab which shows the details of the app, and the great people behind making this app a reality.

CONCLUSION

What I can say after reviewing this app is – Its one of the best thing that happened to Android – I’ve been having a great time with my phone since installing this beauty! Although I faced a few FC (force closes), I guess it might just be me and the ROM I’m using. It should be fine, and the dev has made it so easy that even a small kid can install this app.

It is also interesting to note the history of L Speed – started as a simple script for the LG L Series – now grown into an app – which supports any rooted device above Android 4.0 ICS. So it is not suprising that the app has achieved respect and many supporters (~50,000 downloads and 4.8 rating on Play Store alone, that is quite a milestone)

So here’s me wishing all the best to Dan, and hope that the app can scale even more greater heights!
